I heard the water is very shallow. Is it safe for children and are there places to change nearby.

Casuarina Beach on Karainagar island is arguably the best swimming beach in the north. The water remains waist deep for hundreds of meters out, which makes it incredibly safe for children and non swimmers. There are basic changing rooms and toilets maintained by the local council. It can get very busy on public holidays so try to go early in the morning on a weekday for the clearest water.

Avoid the midday sun as there is very little shade on the actual sand. You can buy fresh king coconut from the vendors at the entrance for about one hundred and fifty rupees.
