Is Dickwella beach safe for swimming with young children.

Dickwella main beach has moderate waves and some rip currents so it is not the safest choice for very young children. Instead head straight to the nearby Hiriketiya bay which is a small horseshoe shaped cove with much calmer protected waters. Hiriketiya is perfect for families and is only a five minute tuk tuk ride from Dickwella town. Always supervise children closely as no lifeguards are stationed on these beaches.
