Is it safe to climb Adams Peak in the rainy off season?
2 Answers from travellers
The trail is never closed but it is significantly more dangerous in the off season. There are no lights on the path and the shops are all closed. The stairs become extremely slippery and the summit is often shrouded in thick mist with heavy winds. You must carry all your own water, food, and high quality rain gear. It is very solitary and atmospheric, but do not expect the famous sunrise view as cloud cover is almost guaranteed.
Be prepared for leeches on the lower sections during the rain. You will also need a very strong headlamp as the descent in the dark is treacherous without proper lighting. It is best to go with a local who knows the path well.
