Is the train to Haputale very crowded.

The incredibly famous train route connecting Kandy Nuwara Eliya Haputale and Ella is notoriously massively overcrowded every single day during the peak tourist season. If you simply buy a cheap unreserved second or third class ticket on the day of travel you will almost absolutely definitely be forced to stand tightly packed in the aisles for several hours.
Alternatively if you are forced into the unreserved carriage try traveling incredibly early in the morning when the local crowds are slightly thinner giving you a tiny chance of grabbing an open bench.
To guarantee a highly comfortable assigned seat you must proactively book a reserved ticket online at least several weeks strictly in advance. These limited seats sell out incredibly rapidly.
