I want to hit the lagoons before the massive summer crowds arrive. Is the wind picking up in Kalpitiya for kite surfing this early in the season.

The primary kite season officially starts in May, but the wind is already building up nicely in the Kalpitiya lagoon this late in April. Several kite camps are throwing their opening season parties this weekend. It is an amazing time to arrive, get the best gear rentals, and enjoy the flat water before it gets packed.
