Tuk-tuks in Kandy are generally fine during the day. Agree on price before getting in. Short trips around the lake or to the temple area should be 200-400 LKR. To the botanical gardens or slightly further, expect 600-1000 LKR. Always confirm the destination clearly. Some drivers may try to take you to shops for commission — politely decline if not interested. Hotel-recommended drivers are usually more reliable. Kandy traffic can be heavy, so allow extra time. Most drivers are honest, but confirming price upfront prevents misunderstandings. For longer trips or multiple stops, consider hiring a driver for the day.

Agree on price first. Short trips 200-400 LKR, longer ones more. Hotel drivers are often more reliable.
