We want to do the 3 day trek to Duwili Ella in the Knuckles Range and sleep in the cave behind the waterfall. Which village homestay should we base ourselves in to start.

You must start from either Meemure or Atanwala. Meemure offers fantastic traditional mud-brick homestays where you can rest the night before. You CANNOT do this hike alone; it is extreme jungle trekking. Your homestay host will arrange a mandatory village guide and porters to carry the food and camping gear for the cave.

Do the porters cook the meals in the cave, or do we bring dry rations.

The village guides will bring basic supplies and cook hot rice and canned fish curries over a fire right inside the cave.

Sleeping in the cave behind the falling water is the most surreal experience. But the noise of the waterfall is deafening, bring earplugs!
