I am visiting Arugam Bay in July. I ride a 9 foot longboard. Should I paddle out to Main Point or stick to Baby Point.

In July, the swell at Main Point can get very hollow, fast, and double overhead. It is dominated by shortboarders and highly skilled locals. A 9-foot log will be a liability there unless you are an expert. Baby Point (which is just the inside section of Main Point) sweeps over sand and is perfectly suited for long, cruisy longboard rides. Stick to Baby Point.

If you want pure longboarding, hire a tuk-tuk and go to Whisky Point instead. The wave is fatter and slower.

Baby point is great, but it gets crowded with 50 beginners pushing foam boards around 10 AM.

Thanks, Whisky Point sounds like exactly what I am looking for.

Watch out for the reef at Main point. It is shallow and sharp if you wipe out on a big set.

What about Peanut Farm for longboarding.

Peanut Farm has a great main point and an inside section, so it works for both short and longboards. Highly recommend it.
