I am reading conflicting things about the southwest monsoon. Is it a bad idea to visit the south coast (Galle/Unawatuna) in June? Will it rain all day long?

If you want clear skies and perfect beach days in June, head to the East Coast! Arugam Bay, Trincomalee, and Nilaveli have perfect sunny weather right now.

June is the monsoon for the South and West. It rarely rains all day; usually, it is an intense downpour for an hour or two in the afternoon. However, the sea is very rough and dangerous for swimming.
