Three hours on the kerb. Queen's won't let non-guests through the lobby. Temple wall is right there. Official site says the Maligawa is open until 8. Are the toilets inside still a thing at 8.40 during Perahera or will they turn us away at the scanner. Kid is doing the dance.

Do not count on walking into the Maligawa at 8.40. Public hours are 5.30-8.00 and the evening theva is 6.30-8.00 - and right now the grounds are the stage the procession is returning to, not a visitor toilet. Hotel lobbies on the route will gatekeep. Use the police Perahera map's sanitary-facility pins (kandyesalaperahera.police.lk) or peel inland one block to a small hotel / restaurant that is actually serving.

Last night the temple gate was a wall of people and uniforms. We used a guesthouse bathroom two streets back after buying two waters. That is the real economy.

The new info system was built for this - parking, route, viewing, sanitary facilities, missing persons. If the pin is 10 minutes away, start now. Hotline 081 22 33 333 if you cannot load it.

Inland. Kid first. Not the temple gate.
