Partner wants the quiet lake wall now - is sitting on Kandy Lake after Perahera even allowed
Crowd is thinning on our bit. Partner wants to sit on the wall with the leftover lights and "finally see the water." I have been told the lake is sacred-ish and also that people feed fish here in the daytime. Are we about to be the tourists on the wrong side of a railing.

Sitting on the public lake-side pavement / a bench is normal. Climbing the wall, dangling feet, throwing leftover cart food, or talking about a swim is how you get a whistle. Kandy Lake is a protected city tank next to the Maligawa, not a beach. After Perahera it is wet stone, leftover crowd, and the odd dog. Sit where people sit in daylight. Then go to bed.
We sat on a step, not the wall, Wednesday. Fine. The couple who climbed for a photo got moved on.
If an officer is still on that stretch, ask with a point, not a paragraph. Do not invent a "lake sitting ticket."

TukTuk or tour drivers take you to "gem museums" or "government-certified" gem shops. They receive huge commissions (up to 40%) on anything you buy. Prices are inflated 3-10x the actual value.
Men approach tourists near Temple of the Tooth offering to be guides. After the tour, they demand large "donations" or guide fees (5000-10000 LKR).
