Are there strict rules for taking photos at the ancient ruins and active temples in the cultural triangle

Never take a photo with your back turned to a Buddha statue. It is a major rule in Sri Lankan culture. Also ensure you wear clothes covering your shoulders and knees.

Tripods are sometimes restricted in narrow spaces inside temples so check at the gate.
