Secret hiking trails to upper Ravana waterfalls in Ella
7 Answers from travellers
There is no official or safe trail up the face of Ravana Falls. The rocks are coated in black algae and are incredibly slippery. More importantly, flash floods can surge over the edge without warning. The police frequently arrest tourists caught climbing past the warning tape. Do not risk it.
The police literally blow a whistle at you if you step over the line.
If you want upper pools, you have to go to Diyaluma Falls instead. Much safer hiking path.
There are some overgrown villager paths, but they are full of leeches and snakes. Not worth the view.
Just take photos from the bridge and go grab a beer.
Is there a path through the jungle instead of the rocks.
I saw someone break their leg slipping there. The nearest good hospital is very far away.
