We fly Sunday - is Friday 28's Day Perahera worth changing the ticket after tonight
8.46 on the walk off the kerb. Just watched a Kumbal. Official table says Dahawal Perahera Friday 28 at 2.18pm. We fly CMB Sunday 23 late afternoon, which means we could still do tomorrow's 5th Kumbal and maybe not even Sunday's first Randoli. Changing the flight to stay nine more days for a daytime parade feels insane from this pavement. Is the Day Perahera actually a different thing or just the night one without streetlights.

Do not rebook a Sunday 23 flight for Friday 28's Day Perahera on the back of one Kumbal. Day Perahera (Dahawal, 2.18pm) is the closing daytime procession after the Thursday night Grand Randoli and the water-cutting. It is real, it is shorter, it is hot, it is not the reason to blow a ticket. If you can move the flight at all, move it to Monday 24 so you get Sunday's first Randoli at 6.44 - that is the first night that looks like the postcard. Nine extra days is a different holiday.
Tonight was beautiful and smaller than YouTube. We are keeping Sunday's flight and trying to stand Sunday night if the airport slot allows. Day Perahera is for people already here through Poya.
