Jet skiing, banana boat rides, tube rides, and speed boat tours are all available along the Bentota River and on the open beach. Kids love the gentle banana boat rides which cost around fifteen hundred rupees per person for a fifteen minute ride. All operators provide life jackets and safety briefings before starting.
The Madu Ganga river boat safari is a fantastic family friendly option combining wildlife spotting with cultural experiences. You will cruise through mangrove forests, visit a cinnamon island to watch traditional peeling, stop at a Buddhist temple on a tiny island, and enjoy a natural fish foot massage. The two hour tour costs around three thousand rupees per boat which fits up to eight people.
