While Arugam Bay lacks good diving the absolute best shipwreck hub is located near Colombo and Mount Lavinia. The HMS Hermes and the Taprobane East Wreck are spectacular deep dives suitable only for highly experienced divers.

Another phenomenal location is Galle which features several accessible colonial era steamships completely encrusted in vibrant soft corals. You must visit between December and March for the absolute best underwater visibility.
