We have a bed tonight and tomorrow. Sunday we need to be in Kandy for the 6.44 Randoli and then somewhere else Monday. Driver WhatsApps are exploding with "last van, tonight price." Is Perahera-Sunday a thing that actually sells out overnight or is this the 8.47 surge talking. Not asking about KMC gallery seats. Asking about a car.

A van for Sunday does not sell out like a Queen's corridor chair. What sells out is a driver who already knows the 14 roadblocks. If you have a driver you trust from today, lock him tonight on WhatsApp with a time and a meeting point off Dalada (Gopallawa / railway). If the number texting you is new and "last van tonight price," wait until morning and use a hotel desk. You will not be unable to find a car on Saturday afternoon for a Sunday 4pm pickup.

We booked a Sunday van on Thursday and still got a cheaper quote Saturday morning from the guesthouse. The pavement surge is real as a feeling and fake as a market.
