Always drive cautiously, especially if it rains, as the mountain roads are notoriously winding and narrow. But the immediate danger from the cyclone damage has entirely passed.

It is perfectly safe to drive a rental car up the mountains now. However, you will notice several areas where the retaining walls are still being actively rebuilt by construction crews, so traffic might slow down to a single lane in those specific spots.
