Is it safe to swim or are there wild crocodiles near the surf spots.

You absolutely do not need to worry about crocodiles in the main ocean surf breaks like Main Point or Whiskey Point. Saltwater crocodiles generally strongly avoid the crashing waves and busy crowded beaches.

You must strictly avoid swimming wading or washing your hands in any still dark lagoon water near Arugam Bay especially at dusk as these reptiles are incredibly stealthy ambush predators.

However massive wild crocodiles absolutely thrive in the murky brackish water of the inland lagoons and river mouths that feed into the ocean specifically the Panama lagoon and the bridge near Elephant Rock.
