Best way to extend stay long-term as a remote worker (paperwork, process)?
I want to stay 2+ months. What's the smoothest way to handle visa extensions and requirements?

Tourist visa extensions are handled at the Department of Immigration in Colombo. You'll need to apply before your current permission expires, show proof of accommodation and sufficient funds, and pay the fee. Processing can take several days to a week or more. Some long-stay visitors use agents or guesthouses that help with paperwork. For stays beyond 6 months, options are more limited and may require leaving and re-entering or exploring other visa categories. Plan ahead and be prepared for some bureaucracy. Many remote workers base themselves in one place and handle extensions from there.
Some guesthouses that cater to long-stay guests have experience with the process and can recommend reliable agents if needed. It's doable but requires patience.
