Does the Digital Nomad Visa require a local bank account?

The 2026 Digital Nomad Visa rules specify that you must prove a monthly income of two thousand dollars from foreign sources using your home bank statements. You do not need a local account for the application. However, you are permitted and encouraged to open a personal account here once your visa is endorsed for easier local transactions.
