Free visa for 40 countries from 25 May does Czech Republic count
I paid the 50 USD ETA fee three weeks ago before the new free visa scheme was announced Now I see it kicked in on 25 May 2026 with 30 day stay and double entry Is Czech Republic on the list and can I claim a refund for my paid ETA Also is the double entry useful if I do a Maldives side trip

Czech Republic is on the list along with all EU member states UK USA Canada Japan Australia China India and the UAE Unfortunately fees paid before 25 May 2026 are non refundable under the scheme so you cannot claim back the 50 USD The double entry is genuinely useful for Maldives or even a short India hop you can re enter Sri Lanka within the 30 day validity without a new application
Maldivians get 90 days through their reciprocal deal lucky them Singapore and Seychelles also get free ETA under separate bilateral arrangements
Just landed last week from Tokyo took 9 minutes at immigration They scanned my passport saw the visa free record and stamped 30 days No paper forms needed
If you want longer than 30 days the extension at Battaramulla immigration office is around 100 USD for an additional 60 days bring 4 passport photos and your hotel booking
You still need to submit the ETA application at eta gov lk before flying The fee just shows as 0 USD at checkout Keep the approval email on your phone since some airline staff at check in still ask for it
