Both heels are raw from the kerb - any inland pharmacy still open at 9.15
Three hours of concrete, wet socks, one blister that has become two. I can see a green cross two streets back with the shutter half down. Is a Kandy pharmacy a 9.15 thing on a Perahera Friday or do we tape this with a handkerchief and limp home.

Inland grid, not Dalada. A half-shutter green cross is worth a knock - Perahera Fridays keep a few duty pharmacies awake precisely for this. If it is dark, do not limp the lake looking for another. Handkerchief, dry socks if you have them, shoes off only inside. Morning pharmacy is a real plan; tetanus-for-pride is not.
We found one open on the mosque-side grid after Wednesday, bought plaster and a sealed water. The lake-front ones were shut.

TukTuk or tour drivers take you to "gem museums" or "government-certified" gem shops. They receive huge commissions (up to 40%) on anything you buy. Prices are inflated 3-10x the actual value.
Men approach tourists near Temple of the Tooth offering to be guides. After the tour, they demand large "donations" or guide fees (5000-10000 LKR).
