Doing a Yoga Teacher Training in Dikwella on a standard tourist visa

Yes, you can legally participate in a short term Yoga Teacher Training course on a standard tourist ETA. You are considered a tourist engaging in a wellness activity, not a student enrolling in a formal Sri Lankan university. You only need a student visa for long term academic enrollment.
If you want heavy techno, you will need to take a 45 minute tuk tuk ride back up to Ahangama to clubs like Lamana. Dikwella is much more chill and lounge house oriented.
Our shala in Dikwella runs exactly 28 days for the 200 hour YTT, so it fits perfectly into the 30 day tourist visa window. As for parties, Hiriketiya is right next door and Smoke and Bitters throws amazing weekend events.
Be careful partying too hard during a YTT. The physical toll of doing 6 hours of yoga a day combined with a hangover in the tropical humidity will absolutely crush you.
