I want to avoid the massive crowds at Kabalana. Are there any hidden advanced reef breaks near Ahangama that require a bit of adventure to reach.

Yes, if you walk east past Marshmallows break, there are several unnamed, shallow A-frame reefs that local chargers surf. You have to scramble over sharp coral rocks to paddle out. It is dangerous and there is zero rescue if you get hurt, so never surf it alone.

Do I need booties for those spots.

Booties are highly recommended if you do not know exactly where the channels are to paddle out safely.

Check out the spot locals call Animals. It is a heavy left but you have to walk through a small jungle patch to find the entry point.

Be very careful of sea urchins. Those hidden reefs are completely covered in them.
