Foreca Saturday (21:27 stamp): 8am gusts 36 km/h, 9am 43, 10am 50, then 11am 47, still 0 mm, precip 12-17% in that window. Met's 21 Aug bulletin had 30-40 kmph at times over western slopes of the Central hills - that was today's note, not a 22 Aug wind-warning we found. 50 km/h gusts on a pass is a slow-van morning, not an automatic cancel. I did not find a 22 Aug NBRO landslide notice at 10:25.
The driver who slept (other thread) at 06:30 is still better than the driver who stood the 4th at 05:00 in 50 km/h gusts. If the van feels like a sail, you stop. You do not argue with a pass.
