We want to hire a tuk tuk for a full day to explore the scattered ruins of Anuradhapura. What is a fair price to negotiate, and will they wait at each stupa.

A fair price for a full day (usually 6-8 hours) exploring Anuradhapura in a tuk-tuk is around 4000 to 5500 LKR total. Yes, the driver will wait for you at the entrance of each stupa or ruin. Make sure you agree on the price for the "whole day including waiting time" before getting in, and clarify if they will drop you back at your hotel at the end.

Ask your guesthouse to arrange a trusted driver. They usually know the exact order to visit the ruins to avoid the massive tour buses.

It is so much better than renting bicycles because the site is massive and it gets blisteringly hot by noon.
