I want to avoid the crowds at the Temple of the Tooth and do the Three Temples Loop (Gadaladeniya, Lankatilaka, Embekke). How much should a tuktuk cost for this half day trip.

The Three Temples Loop is fantastic for 14th-century wood carvings and architecture. A fair price for a round trip from Kandy center in a tuk-tuk, including waiting time at all three temples, is around 3500 to 4500 LKR total. Negotiate the price for the "whole loop with waiting" before you get in.

No, PickMe drivers will not wait for you at the temples for free. You have to negotiate a flat rate with a street driver.

Do not let the driver convince you to visit a gem museum on the way back.

Embekke Devalaya has the most insane wooden pillar carvings in the country. Totally worth the trip.
