Absolutely do NOT do this. It is a major scam that can get you arrested. The Cultural Triangle sites are heavily patrolled by the archaeological police. If they catch you inside the park without a valid ticket purchased from the main museum, you will be hit with a massive fine or face deportation. The driver just pockets your cash and leaves you to deal with the consequences.

They try this at Sigiriya too. Always buy your tickets directly from the official ticket counters.
