Hiriketiya bay looks tiny. What is the surf etiquette there, where is the best vegan food post surf, and where do people drink late at night since the bay is so quiet.

Hiriketiya is a tiny horseshoe bay, so the lineup gets incredibly crowded. Etiquette is strict: wait your turn, do not drop in on the locals at the left reef break, and beginners MUST stick to the beach break foam. For vegan food, Salt House and Dots Bay House have amazing plant-based menus. For late-night drinks, Smoke and Bitters in nearby Dikwella is ranked as one of the best cocktail bars in Asia.

If you are a beginner on a longboard, do not paddle out to the reef point. You will get yelled at and potentially hurt someone.

Dots Bay House actually throws great weekend parties. It is not heavy techno, more live bands and surf rock, but the vibe is perfect.

Maha Cafe also has incredible vegan smoothie bowls right near the sand.
