I want to see how cinnamon and cocoa grow. Are the tours free and is there pressure to buy expensive herbal products at the end.

Most gardens offer free educational tours which are genuinely interesting. However, the shops at the end can be very expensive. My advice is to enjoy the tour, learn about the plants, but do not feel obligated to buy anything. If you want spice products, you can find the same quality for a fraction of the price at the Kandy central market. Always double check the ingredients if you are buying medicinal oils.

If they offer a free massage during the tour, it is customary to give a small tip of around five hundred rupees to the person performing it. Be wary of any product that claims to be a miracle cure for serious illnesses.
