How much time needed for Royal Botanical Gardens in Kandy?
We have a tight schedule. Can we see the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens in 1 hour, or does it take a half-day?

1 hour is not enough. The gardens are massive (147 acres). You need at least 2.5 to 3 hours to walk through the Avenue of Royal Palms, the Orchid House, and see the giant Javan fig tree. It is one of the best botanical gardens in Asia.
The golf buggy is a fantastic tip! We will definitely do that if we run short on time.
If you are rushed, rent an electric golf buggy at the entrance! They drive you around the highlights in about an hour.
Scam Watch: kandy
TukTuk or tour drivers take you to "gem museums" or "government-certified" gem shops. They receive huge commissions (up to 40%) on anything you buy. Prices are inflated 3-10x the actual value.
Men approach tourists near Temple of the Tooth offering to be guides. After the tour, they demand large "donations" or guide fees (5000-10000 LKR).
