For a six month stay simply extending a standard 30 day tourist ETA online is generally much cheaper upfront than paying the high application fees associated with the formal one year digital nomad visa. The tourist visa can easily be extended up to 270 days for British and European passport holders. However the nomad visa provides official legal residency and tax benefits that long term professionals might prefer despite the higher initial cost.
