Is it safe to hike Horton Plains in the April mist?

The mist at Horton Plains in April can be quite thick but usually clears by 9:00 AM. A guide is not mandatory as the main trail is a loop and very well marked. However, you must arrive at the gate by 6:00 AM to ensure you see the view at World End before the clouds roll back in. The temperature can drop to ten degrees so bring a warm jacket even though it is hot in the rest of the country.
