Kandy to Ella road conditions right now after the rain this week?
I'm driving tomorrow. Has anyone been on this route recently? Any landslides or bad sections I should know about?

The main road has been mostly okay but some smaller sections and side roads can still have issues after heavy rain. Landslide risk is lower now but not zero in certain areas. I'd recommend checking with your driver or hotel in Ella tonight for the latest update, as conditions can change quickly. Most people are getting through fine on the main route, but allow extra time and don't push it if you see warnings or bad patches. Some drivers are taking slightly longer but safer routes right now.
Main road is passable but some sections are still messy. Ask locally tonight before you leave. Most drivers are managing fine with extra time.
We came through yesterday and it was okay but slow in a couple of places. Driver knew which sections to be careful on.

TukTuk or tour drivers take you to "gem museums" or "government-certified" gem shops. They receive huge commissions (up to 40%) on anything you buy. Prices are inflated 3-10x the actual value.
Men approach tourists near Temple of the Tooth offering to be guides. After the tour, they demand large "donations" or guide fees (5000-10000 LKR).
