Yes, Nilwella beach is fantastic for snorkeling. Because it is protected by the Blue Beach Island sandbar, the water remains incredibly calm and clear, allowing you to easily spot colorful reef fish and occasional sea turtles.

It is much better for snorkeling than the main Hiriketiya bay, which gets too churned up by the surfing waves to have good visibility underwater.
