Yes, Ahangama is the undisputed nightlife capital of the south coast and generally very safe inside the venues. Venues like Lamana and Trax host massive, secure parties. The only major safety issue is GETTING HOME. Do not walk along the dark Galle road or the beach at 3 AM due to speeding night buses and aggressive stray dogs. Always negotiate a tuk-tuk ride before you leave.

The parties are essentially European techno clubs dropped onto a jungle beach. Super intense and fun.
