If you want secret snorkeling spots, head towards Mihiripenna beach, just east of Ahangama. The small rocky coves there are protected from the main surf breaks, offering incredibly clear water where you can easily spot colorful reef fish.

Another fantastic, completely uncrowded spot is the shallow reef near the Turtle Conservation Project in Koggala. You can simply swim out from the shore and you have a very high chance of encountering wild sea turtles peacefully grazing.
