We want to walk through the tea fields near Kandy Can we just walk into any estate or do we have to book an expensive factory tour

You do not need to book a factory tour to enjoy the estates However tea estates are private property You are generally allowed to walk on the established dirt tractor paths that run through the hills NEVER walk directly through the tea bushes themselves as this damages the crops Just be respectful and step aside for workers

If a security guard or estate manager asks you to leave please do so without arguing It is their land
