Diving with an uncertified guide is incredibly dangerous and voids any international travel insurance you hold. To guarantee safety you must explicitly ask to see their physical PADI or SSI instructor certification card before paying.

If a dive shop operating out of a tiny wooden beach shack offers you a suspiciously cheap dive and makes excuses about showing their credentials walk away instantly. Only use highly reviewed established brick and mortar dive centers.

Every single legitimate instructor has a unique identification number. You can instantly type this number into the official PADI Pro Chek database on your smartphone to verify their current active teaching status.
