The government is currently seeking final cabinet approval to expand the free ETA scheme from seven countries to forty. Under this proposal, travelers from the US, UK, Australia, and most EU member states would join India and China in receiving complimentary 30 day visas. The goal is to boost arrivals by eighteen percent through March 2027. Check the official immigration portal gov.lk for the formal launch date as they are still simplifying the QR coded approval process.
