I'm an experienced diver. Are there interesting wrecks accessible from the south or east coast?

There are several wrecks, mostly from WWII and later. Some accessible from the south coast (around Hikkaduwa and Galle) and more in Trincomalee. Visibility and conditions vary. Popular ones include the 'Conch' and other cargo ships. You'll need a local dive operator who knows the sites and has the right equipment. It's not world-class wreck diving like some places, but there are interesting sites if you're already certified and looking for something different from reefs.

I did a wreck dive near Galle. It was okay but the viz wasn't great that day. The reef diving was better.
