Rain just started on our side of the lake - stay put or shove inland

Not a Met "several spells" thing. Actual drops on this kerb, lake side of Dalada, plastic chairs going up as hats. We have one thin jacket between two and the relic might still be on Raja Veediya. Do we eat the wet for ten more minutes or is this the bit where the crowd panics and someone goes into the road.

Kandy's 21 Aug forecast was slight showers, tiny millimetres. A lake-side sprinkle is normal, not a monsoon. The dangerous bit is the crowd moving in the wet, not the water. Stay on the pavement. Do not open a golf umbrella into the people behind you. If you are already shivering, step inland one block - you will not get a better view by standing heroically.

Last night a 8-minute spit and everyone with a poncho became a tent. We ducked under a shop eave off the lake and came back. Procession did not stop.
