Are there any large climbable rocks or cliffs directly over the surf breaks in Ahangama where I can rig a climbing harness and shoot straight down into the barrels.

Ahangama is relatively flat compared to cliffs in Bali. There are no massive sheer cliffs directly over the barrel sections. However, you can scramble up the rocks near the Marshmallows break or Kabalana. You do not need a harness, just good grip shoes. The rocks are jagged coral and limestone, so be careful not to slice your hands.

If you want cliff-side surf photography, you need to go to Hiriketiya or Blue Beach Island near Nilwella. They have much better elevated viewpoints.

Just use a drone if you want top-down barrel shots. Climbing those slippery, algae-covered coastal rocks with heavy camera gear is asking for a broken leg.
