Ahangama is generally very safe and violent crime against tourists is extremely rare. However walking alone down unlit narrow jungle roads late at night after a party is highly discouraged.

The main risks are aggressively barking street dogs and unmarked potholes. You should absolutely always arrange a local tuk tuk driver to take you directly from the venue to your guesthouse door which costs very little and guarantees total safety.
