For the best reflections of the Temple of the Tooth, walk along the southern edge of Kandy Lake just before sunrise. The water is perfectly still, creating a mirror effect of the golden roof.

If you want to photograph wildlife like monitor lizards, pelicans, and cormorants, the quieter northern edge near the Udawatta Kele boundary is incredibly active in the early morning.

The island pavilion in the center of the lake is also a great subject to frame with the large overhanging trees along the eastern pathway.
