Hotel put the flag at half-mast - do we stay quiet tonight or is Perahera still a party street

Reception tied a black ribbon and the lobby TV is a night of old songs. Outside we can hear drums. Mourning is 21-23. We do not want to be the drunk table. Is a beer on the terrace tacky tonight or is the city doing both things at once.

The state declared three days. The Maligawa did not stop the Perahera. Locals are doing both - respect in the daytime, procession at night. Do not blast speaker-phone videos of her songs in a temple queue. A quiet beer off the route is not a crime. A party hat on Dalada Veediya was never OK.
