8.40, lake kerb. We finished the two bottles we brought at 5. Guy with a bucket of sealed 500mls just said a price that made the local next to us laugh. Not asking you to name a fair rupee. Asking whether we walk inland to a shop or just pay the squeeze tax so we do not faint.

It is the squeeze tax. Sealed bottles from a bucket on Dalada at 8.40 are priced for people who cannot leave. If you can peel inland one block, a small shop will be closer to ordinary. If someone in the group is dizzy, pay the kerb price once, drink, then move. Look at the seal. Do not take a poured cup.
We paid it Wednesday, felt stupid, lived. Thursday we pre-bought a pack at Cargills in the afternoon. Be that person tomorrow.
Met had Kandy in the shower belt, not the east's heat advisory, but you have been standing packed since 5. Thirst is real. Sealed bottle > pride.
